The Internet is a Frontier

The internet is a loose association of millions of computers scattered all over the world. Hardware and software can fail at any one of these points.

Internet traffic will sometimes be slow; it is possible for access to your site or email to fail completely. Usually these problems are resolved within an hour or two, but on very rare occasions, it can take a couple days for your host to fix the problem. We will recommend what we know to be the most reliable solutions for you. Please remember that the bigger picture is out of anyone's control. The Internet Traffic Report, at http://www.internettrafficreport.com, shows areas of slow traffic.

The web unfortunately also attracts pranksters and scam artists who try to exploit the system. We try to stay informed on ways to avoid these risks, and suggest ways of avoiding common vulnerabilities, but we are not able to predict or prevent every internet abuse. It's up to you to let us (and your host) know if you observe any odd traffic through your site or email account.

Browsers, Equipment, and Settings Differ Widely

There are so many variables in computer equipment, operating systems, monitor settings, browsers, and so on, that it's impossible to make your site look the same to every viewer. If we use the colors of your business materials to create your site, they will appear similar online, but may not match exactly. Some elements may have to be adjusted to make the site readable.  

YouCanWeb.net makes every effort to comply with Federal regulations on privacy, and on web site accessibility for the disabled. These regulations may also require some adjustments in your site's content or presentation.  

Always Read The Terms of Service!

Third party services will have their own terms and conditions. It's your responsiblity to know and follow them. Use of your site to defraud, harrass, defame, or promote illegal activity, will usually lead to cancellation of your account. Site traffic that exceeds the allowed bandwidth or server usage will be subject to extra charges. Our recommended providers have generous allowances, so this is unlikely to be a problem for you. If it does become an issue, we can help you set up revenue generating features to help pay the extra costs.

Most hosts are tough on spam; one complaint that you sent someone unwanted email can result in a suspended account. We can explain how to avoid this and other problems.

Traffic that exceeds the allowed bandwidth or server usage will be subject to price increases. Our recommended hosts have generous allowances, so this is unlikely to be a problem for you. If it does become an issue, we may be able to help you set up revenue generating features so that your site pays these extra costs.  

Getting Started With Us

A non-refundable deposit is required to start work. Work will be started when all site materials are provided to YouCanWeb. Minor adjustments will be made at no charge. There may be an extra charge for major changes after work is done. Please see our work window policy for more details.

Keep Up The Good Work!

Unless you arrange for monthly management by YouCanWeb.net, you will be responsible for maintaining your site after it is installed in good working order. Minor assistance is available for one month after the site goes live, at no extra charge. Extensive consultation time will be billed at the hourly rate ($24 an hour). You will always be notified in advance if extra charges will apply.

Most importantly do not let your domain registration lapse. If your domain is snapped up by a speculator, it will cost you hundreds, even thousands, to buy it back.

Finally, a website won't bring you business, any more than a toolbox will build you a bookcase. There are tens of thousands of domains being added to the internet every day. We'll make sure your website is user-friendly, with the tools to help you stand out from the crowd, but you will actually have to use them. You'll need to promote your site with print and/or internet advertising. You may have to provide frequent fresh content, such as blog posts, articles, or event listings, to attract visitors, and build your search engine standing.
